Dossier of the Vietnamese Giong Festival which was sent to UNESCO for recognition as intangible cultural heritage has been said to have enough technical factors to submit to the UNSECO’s Intergovernmental Committee for further appraisal.
The Department of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism made the said-above announcement on January 26.
The result of the second assessment round will be informed in June and the result of the final round will be announced at a meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritages in Kenya in November. Read the rest of this entry »
The Singapore Tourism Board and tourism entrepreneurs will make their second fact-finding trip to Vietnam this quarter for a survey to help the country build terminals for cruise ships considered vital for developing the cruise tourism industry, an official said.
Vu The Binh, Director of the Department of Travel under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that Singapore consultants and entrepreneurs would survey a sea route from the central city of Danang to Nghe An to find suitable locations for cruise terminals. Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates with award-winning business class flatbeds, will launch services to Nagoya and Tokyo in the first quarter of 2010 – the airline’s first destinations in Japan.
Etihad will operate a four-flights-a-week service to Nagoya via Beijing beginning February 1, increasing to five flights a week from 27 March. A five-flights-a-week direct service to Tokyo’s Narita airport commences on Saturday March 27. Read the rest of this entry »

It took me more than a year to finally bring myself to the now famous Manila Ocean Park in Manila, Philippines. It’s an Oceanarium filled with different variety of open water marine animals. It’s similar to Singapore’s Oceanarium in concept but a bit smaller in area.

Chinese tourists now have direct access to Aklan, the gateway to the world-famous Boracay Island of the Philippines
Shanghai and Hangzhou now have direct flights to Kalibo, Aklan in the Philippines according to a tourism official. Kalibo is the gateway to the world-famous Boracay Island.
The chartered flights from Shanghai, the largest city in China with over 20 million people, will be carried out by Shanghai Airlines starting July 26, while the flights from Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, will be carried out by Philippine Airlines starting July 27.
